A free speed test app
Petal Speed is a free internet speed test utility app by Huawei that provides its users with the real-time status of their network. It also displays the overall ranking of the test results to give you a better perspective of how your current internet connection provider is doing against competitors.
The app supports numerous network bands, including 2G/3G/4G/5G and WiFi connection speed measurement, jitter test, and diagnosis. It can also show graphic and numerical results for download and upload speeds, ping, packet loss, and jitter rates. With these features, it rivals speed test apps like Fast.
Good but not better
Petal Speed shows pretty much everything a user expects from an internet speed test app. Aside from speed analytics and diagnosis, its interface is also simple and convenient to use. Just one click and you’ll have your results in no time. It also supports automatic and manual search, so you have the option to test other servers. On top of that, all previous tests are available in the test history.
With all its features, the app gives you just enough. However, it still doesn’t have other features that are available for free in its competitor, Speedtest. What makes its competitor better is that Speedtest provides better support for streamers and users that rely heavily on video with its Video Testing feature. This feature shows you the maximum resolution your internet can handle, as well as load time and buffer.
On top of that, Petal Speed doesn’t have a built-in VPN, which is also a free feature that is available with its competitor. Still, without comparison, the app provides everything you need in a speed test app, which basically just knowing how fast your internet is. Other than that, it’s pretty much in the same league as its other competitors, like Fast and SpeedTest Master.
Adequate alternative app
Petal Speed is an adequate alternative to SpeedTest as it has all the basic features a user could need. It also doesn’t take a lot of disk space, with a file size of only 32.3 MB, compared to SpeedTest’s 95.45 MB. Overall, it’s a good app that provides fast and accurate diagnostics of your network speed, all with a smooth and easy-to-use interface.
